October 27 - Emmit Smith Becomes the NFL's All-Time Leading Rusher

On this day, 8 years ago, Dallas Cowboys Running Back Emmit Smith broke Walter Payton's NFL record for most career rushing yards (16,726). Smith would end his career with 18,355 rushing yards and 164 rushing touchdowns--both NFL records.

Smith is widely regarded as one of the best Running Back's in the history of the NFL. He won 3 Superbowl titles, a league MVP in 1993, and a Superbowl MVP in 1995. Along with QB Troy Aikman and WR Michael Irvin, Smith helped the Dallas Cowboys produce one of the most electric offense's during the 1990's.

Today, Smith has retired from professional Football and works as an analyst for NFL Network. In 2006, Smith won the third season of "Dancing with the Stars" along with his partner Cheryl Burke.
