November 4 - The NBA takes their talents to South Beach

On this day, 23 years ago, the NBA announced that they would be expanding into Miami. Given the current state of basketball in Miami, we here at Good News Weekly consider this to have been a very wise move on the part of the NBA.

The Heat began their first NBA season by losing their first 17 games of the season, which was at the time a NBA record. The team finished the year with a 15-67 record, which surprisingly enough, wasn't the worst season in franchise history. Since then, the Heat have become a respected franchise in the NBA, winning the NBA Championship in 2006 behind the performances of Dwayne Wade and Shaquille O'Neal.

Today, the Miami Heat are the most hated team in all of sports. The summer of 2010 saw them acquire 2 time MVP Lebron James and former Toronto Raptor Chris Bosh, to team up with incumbent superstar Dwayne Wade. The Heat, along with the LA Lakers, are the favourites to win the NBA Championship in 2011.
