January 7- Timbaland makes it big with "Shock Value"

On this day in 2008, Timbaland began a 4 week run at the top of the Australian music charts with his second solo album, "Shock Value". The 4 week run in Australia was the fourth time that this album held the peak position on country's music charts for at least 4 weeks. Timbaland was a successful musician and producer prior to this album, but this album turned him into one of the most popular and sought after talents in music. "Shock Value" went platinum in 10 different countries, including selling over a million albums in the United States alone.

The 2007 release featured several #1 singles including "Give it to Me", "The Way I Are", and "Apologize". The album was noted for featuring several mainstream artists including Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, One Republic, Fallout Boy, Nicole Scherzinger, Dr. Dre, Missy Elliot, and many more.

In 2009, Timbaland released "Shock Value II" which was a follow up to the 2007 release. This album was just as successful as its predecessor, and featured 4 mainstream singles including "Morning After Dark" and "Carry Out". "Timbo" is currently working on his upcoming album, "Shock Value III" which is due out in 2011.
